Australia’s $166B Future Fund Pivots: Wall Street Diet, Tokyo & Berlin Feast 🍣🍺

Australia’s sovereign wealth giant has doubled its target returns (12.2% vs 6.1%) — and now it’s reshuffling the deck.

CEO Raphael Arndt is trimming U.S. exposure, citing volatility, tariffs, and political noise. Instead, fresh capital is heading to Germany, where government stimulus is ramping up, and Japan, where equities look cheaper.

The numbers:

  • A$252B valuation (US$166B)

  • A$65B in developed markets (up from A$47B in 2024)

  • U.S. still the biggest destination, but now on a modest diet

  • Gold & commodities getting a lift too

A quiet rebalance? Maybe. A signal about where smart sovereign money sees value? Definitely.
